My national holiday is, talk like a text message day.  All day people have to walk around using text language.  For instance, lol, omg, or ttyl.  This is the day kids, teachers, and even old people can talk like a text and text all day, or any time.  Around this time people get the newest cell phone free at any store that cells the service they have.  Most people will decorate by hanging parts of the cell phone all over their houses or classrooms.  People may even go as far as wearing socks with cell phones and sweaters with  cell phones on them.  This is the second most important holiday of the year.  Talk like a text and text all day day started back in 1950's.  Back then people used can good cans, and a string to connect them together, kind of like a telephone to talk to one another.  Then the was the civil cell war, where Americans fought the Chinese to get their good ideas and more efficient technology.  One thing lead to another, then  BAM! we got text. The true meaning of this day is to celebrate the day we could communicate with one another without speaking, and to get on our teachers nerves.  So as you can see text is more important then just another way to communicate, it has a legacy that will never die, but will improve.
